How to submit your selfie and video for admin approval

Your profile is checked by a real person before it can be shown to other members. This guide covers the two things you send: your profile photo, and a short selfie video.

Video walkthrough

This short recording shows the login and verification screens, using a test account. The file is login_and_verification.mp4, in this same folder.

Before you start

Use a clear photo of only you, with your whole face visible and facing the camera.
Record the video in good light, with a plain background and no one else in the frame.
Allow camera and microphone access when your browser asks. If recording doesn't work, you can choose a video file instead (MP4, WebM or MOV).

Step 1 - Upload your profile photo

Log in and open Profile. The first step is Photo.
Choose your photo, drag it to position it, use the zoom slider, then press Upload photo.
Press Continue when the photo is shown.

Step 2 - Record or choose your selfie video

Open the Get verified step. Your profile photo is shown at the top, as the photo that will be used for verification.
Under Short video (required), press Record, or use Choose File to pick a video you've already made.
Record 5 to 10 seconds: look at the camera and say your first name out loud.
Play the recording back to check your face is clear and fully visible. Press Re-record if you want another take.

Submit for review stays grey until a video has been recorded or chosen.

Step 3 - Submit for admin approval

When the video is ready, press Submit for review.
The status changes to Pending review. Your photo and video are now with an admin.
You don't need to do anything else while you wait.

After submitting: the status is Pending review.

While the video is under review your profile stays deactivated, so it isn't shown to other members. This is expected.

What happens next

Approved: your status shows Verified, your profile is activated, and you get an email.
Not approved: the reviewer's note explains what to fix. Record or choose a new video, and submit again.
Reviews are usually done within a day.
If you change your profile photo later, your verification is reset and you'll need to submit a new video for the new photo.
